Village of the Week

Here is a great video that shows the new Department 56 Halloween Village houses for 2011. This village display is awesome and should help get you inspired to create your own village masterpiece this year.

Watch this video all the way through. It shows all of the new Halloween lighted houses for 2011 and some releases from previous years. Pay close attention to all of the details in the landscaping of this display. He gives a great tip on how to use hot glue and paint to give the illusion of flowing water or blood at around the 4 minute mark of this video.

That display tip looked really cool on the new Department 56 Halloween Village Cursed Fountain. You have to see what he did with glue and pumpkin seeds to enhance the landscaping for the new Retching Pumpkin Diner lighted display village. Unbelievable!

Another cool new piece highlighted in this video is the Lot 13 Crystal Lake Trailer. The blue lighting on this village piece looks really eerie. I also thought it was really cool the way he put toilet paper in the trees around the trailer. This guy is a master designer! The tips he give in this video are priceless.

How did this video inspire you? What new things did you learn? What are your favorite new Department 56 Halloween Village Houses for 2011? Please leave your comments below.

St Nicholas Square and Department 56 ?

I have a whole village of St Nicholas Square houses, buildings, accessories etc etc I just discovered Department 56 how different are the scales between the two? Would you be able to tell them came from different manufacturers? Or could I blend the two?

What are the companies that make Halloween Collectible Villages? I have seen Spooky Town, Halloween Snow Village by Department 56, and hawthorne collectibles, are there more?

Are these different villages approximately on the same scale so you can take some pieces from each collection?

Are there any good websites for display ideas?

Do they go up in value? Are they only collectibles or do they also have antique value? If so what kind of return would there be?
